The Face Behind StunningSteeds.com:
ARTIST & PHOTOGRAPHER CHERI PRILL
Cheri Prill was born with a strong attraction to horses. She dreamed of HORSES night and day.
Unfortunately, growing up in the city, and to a family that had difficulty just trying to make ends
meet, owning a horse would never be a reality. Therefore, all she could do was dream of them
and draw them.
As Cheri grew, so did her longing to be around horses. Although she didn’t own a horse, she still
was very determined to surround herself with the majestic creatures. She became every horse
owner’s nightmare. Cheri was the kid that wouldn’t go away always asking, “Can I pet your horse?”,
“Can I ride your horse.” and so on. Throughout the years She even cleaned stalls in exchange
for Dressage & Jumping riding lessons and to show, would borrow ANY horse, ANY breed available.
At age 18, a unique opportunity crossed Cheri’s path. Rumor had it that a woman was selling a
gelding and she had even considered the meat market. Horrified at the thought Cheri went to see
him and instantly knew he was “the one”. Offering just $500 plus artwork she took the beautiful red
bay home. Finally a horse of her own! Which is also where her love for the Paso Fino breed began.
In the evenings, after her day job at a Bank in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, she drove to the
country and cleaned 22 stalls daily at a Clydesdale / Belgian Farm in order to board her new horse.
Having a troubled life and a longing for adventure, Cheri moved to Florida, on her own, in 1996.
Although times were tough on her own, especially without her family, she still had the drive for
independence. She returned to college and with the encouragement of her new friends, she
became even more motivated with her equine art and eventually acquired several Paso Finos.
She even made a huge sacrifice when she gave up all she had, her apartment, and moved in with
a friend to be able to be able to purchase one particular special Paso Fino colt,
Conprometido de Diana. “Tido” throughout the years with his beauty and playful personality,
has been inspiration in Cheri’s art & photos. The magical white stallion she dreamed of as a child
became a reality.
With a strong determination in the fall of 2005, Cheri began learning photography. Cheri excelled
at her new skill. Within a few months her images graced magazine covers & various advertisements.
In 2006 she assisted in forming Horse Show Photography business, Stunning Vision Photography,
Although the business was short lived and dissolved in 2007 the business proved to be a valuable
experience. On her own Cheri has continued with her photography and now travels the US &
Puerto Rico for events and farm calls but is not limited to only photographing horses.
Having experience as a horse woman and as an exhibitor herself, of many different breeds &
disciplines, has been reflected in her work as a photographer & artist. She has been competing
since she was 6 years old in Hunter classes, Western, Halter and in 1998 began with Paso Fino
Horses in divisions from Classic Fino, Performance, Pleasure, Bella Forma and even costume. She
has also been honored to have performed many times with JR Morales & 7 time National Bella
Forma Champ, El Chino de el Batey. (View performace here) And also with TWH Stallion Ivory Pal.
Throughout the years, Cheri has had her fine art displayed in various Museums and has won
numerous awards. Her photographs, fine art and graphic art have been used by major breed
associations, the IALHA, PFHA, ATTA, IPHF to name a few. Along with her work being in private
collections all over the world, she also contributes for Equine related events and charities. Cheri
stated, “As I look back I never would have thought that my art & photos would be in magazines,
displayed in museums and so on, it is such an incredible feeling knowing that I am living my
dreams!”
Cheri feels she is truly blessed with her talents. She thanks her family, JR Morales, The Phillips
family, Jordyce Erz, Ronnie Watkins, Jaime, Javier, Jorge and all of the Suarez family,
Dr. Jose Davila, Jacky & Tres Martin, Rafael Valle and Karen Jenkins for their encouragement,
support and reminding her of her “gift” and to cherish it. Cheri also gives a very special thank you
to her customers for their continued support.
